Bad news that Pinky.
That's one of my favourite roads but unfortunately it doesn't have a good reputation. It's been named as one of Britain's most dangerous road sections in the past.
Nice tribute from his mates though.

I know we've been on that road so many time ourseves great road but it does have its scary sections!
It says in the article its in the most dangerous roads in the world, which is pretty scary! x

Sorry to hear your sad news Karen, my condolences x. I always enjoyed that road the times we rode it up to Settle from your house and it never struck me as particularly dangerous (apart from maybe that pheasant that you had to duck for), but I guess I'm just used to it, most of the roads I've always liked riding are similar (I remember Bike mag years ago doing a piece about my favourite A684 being supposedly the most dangerous road in the country), and I guess the things that make good roads good also unfortunately make them potentially more dangerous.
